EvansFest Fun

Today we went to an event put on by the town of Evans called EvansFest at Riverside Park. Evans is a suburb town to the south of Greeley. It was pretty fun. We met up with our friends Matt and Jamie and also ran into a few other friends from around town. There was some food, music, and activities. There were a lot of kids and dogs walking around.

Hanging out in the shade -it was nice and sunny out!

That is one thing that is very different about Greeley and Evans. Evans is considered a “dog friendly” town whereas Greeley is not. In Greeley, dogs are prohibited in most places including most parks. Some parks in Greeley will allow you to walk them as long as you stay on the sidewalks. But that means no throwing frisbees in the grassy green areas.

A couple of years ago we sold a few things from our greenhouse at the local Farmers Market and brought Schnoodle with us. She was just sitting there quietly next to us as we sold various plants and produce and the market maven or whatever her title was told us we couldn’t have her and no one at the market could bring their dogs either! So it was kind of fun to see all the canine kinds walking around with us as well at EvansFest.

Anyway, we walked around and looked at all the booths and then we noticed there was one where you could donate a couple of bucks to some junior sheriffs group, I can’t remember the exact name. So, we thought it would be fun to lock up our friend Matt. He is such a fun target for pranks.  So Britton and I paid for it and then asked the junior sheriff to wait while we brought his wife Jamie and daughter Hailee over. Britton waited with Matt and I told Jamie. We arranged it so that it seemed like we (me, Jamie and Hailee) were just visiting one of the booths for kids. But we were actually signaling for the junior sheriff to go “arrest” him.

She went over and said, “Are you Matt ___?”
“Yes, why?”
“Well, I have a warrant for your arrest.”
“What?”
“Please stand up and put your hands behind your back.”
“What is this about?”

Then she explained that they were doing it for a fundraiser, but I think we had him scared there for a minute -lol. After that he was placed in a “jail cell” for about 10  minutes. We told Hailee he was part of the petting zoo and she could pet him -ha.

After that fun, we stayed and watched one of our favorite local bands, the reggae band Trichome. We have seen them before at Friday Fest in Greeley. The lead singer and guitar player has a real Bob Marley-esque voice so it was pretty fun. Overall, it was a great time!
