Teatro Yaguez

Inside the theatre

We went out for a nice evening with our friends Laura and Trevor and their sweet littles. We saw a dance performance at a very cool theatre in Mayaguez called Teatro Yaguez. It has such neat architecture that I couldn’t help but be impressed.

Located right downtown in Mayaguez, it’s quite easy to find and has an interesting history. The dance performance was really nice. It was a collaboration with a variety of ballet and contemporary dance and performing artists. There was an all-female bomba group and they even had an interpretive dance with flashlights called “After Maria”.

Cool massive chandelier and ceiling!

We weren’t supposed to take photos or videos of the show, but I did snag this one of the final bows. It was a fun night out! I definitely recommend going to Teatro Yaguez if you ever hear about something you’d like to see there!

Empty Stirrups

The moment has arrived.

Please take your seats. Turn off any cellular devices. Grab a refreshment and some popcorn…but just don’t choke! Because you are about to see a hilarious short film.

This is my acting debut, and as strange as the scene is, it was so fun to do and fits in great with the film. Britton is also an extra in the film so see if you can find him. It was filmed entirely in Rincón by our friends Jon and Rachel Meyer and many local businesses graciously let them/us film in their spaces.

So without further ado…I present: Empty Stirrups, a Vanjam Production:

Well, I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we did making it. Here are a few other “behind the scenes” of the end party with the infamous “legs”.

Rocking Out at the Mayhem Festival

I took my nephew Dawson to his first rock concert the other night.  We went to the Mayhem Festival and saw Slip Knot, Slayer, Anthrax and a whole host of other bands.  It was at the “Comfort Dental Amphitheatre” which is kind of an odd name especially for a hard rock concert.  It used to be called Fiddlers Green, which was a much less corporate sounding experience.  Crazy, but that’s how it goes.

Anthrax Playing the Side Stage

It rained a little bit and since it is an outdoor venue we had brought some ponchos with us that really helped keep us comfortable.

I shall call you Poncho

A Perfect Circle at Red Rocks

Well things have been getting pretty stressful lately with my job and rentals.   I have been thinking to myself “self, you need a break or you’ll go crazy”.  The universe responded and my friend Jimmie invited me to go to a concert with some tickets he got for free from a radio station!

It had been a while since I’ve been to Red Rocks.  It is by far one of the best places for a concert.  It’s outdoors, it’s in the foothills and the rocks and soil as the name implies is/are red!  That is where Colorado gets it’s name from “Red Colored”.

The show was great, the energy was amazing and the light drzzle of rain was refreshing.  It really has lifted me up and given me some very postitive energy to attack some of the things I’ve been going thru.

Videos have already hit the internet!  They have signs everywhere that say “no cameras or recording devices”.   Well…Everyone has a cell phone. The sound quality sucks, but it gives and idea of what it was like.
