Quick Stop at the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse

I’ve been wanting to stop by and see the Cabo Rojo lighthouse (Los Morillos) and Playuela for some time. We haven’t been since our honeymoon over 10 years ago! So we decided spur of the moment to go check it out. Unfortunately we got there just a little too late to go inside (it closes at 5pm), so we’ll have to come out another day. But because we arrived later, it wasn’t nearly as crowded and we got to see a beautiful sunset and the stars glow as dark descended. Southwestern Puerto Rico is a much harsher and drier environment compared with most of the rest of the island. When we were there the wind was pretty intense but the views were just incredible.

I love that beach, one of our favorites! They must have painted the shutters because when we were there, they were a dark color like brown. Those cliffs and looking down are fabulous!

We were just there last week! Came upon your blog while googling Caravana Yunta de Bueyes for a link to put in my blog post about our Puerto Rico vacation. We are plannning on returning next year and spending the whole week in Rincon this time. Maybe we’ll see around town 🙂

Wow the light is beautiful there. We are FINALLY getting our chance to visit there in the next couple of days (first time for me) and I am beside myself with excitement. I just hope our car doesn’t get weird on us. 🙂

Sounds like others love this place too! With the salt flat areas it makes for an interesting drive. It had also appeared that some improvements to the roads/paths had taken place since our last visit.
