I took Schnoodle for a walk and to get the mail. When I was nearing the lake I saw a couple of boys playing and two adult birds squawking away. I said, “You boys better be careful it looks like you are near the nest of some baby birds.” They said, “How can you tell? We already found them, look.” And each of them had a baby bird in their hands. I went back to get my camera and this is what I saw:

The funny thing was that the mama/papa was acting like its wing was broken to lure us away from the babies. That was how I knew they were near the nest. Quite the diversionary tactic. Unfortunately, we are not cats or other predators, so the bait doesn’t work quite so well. I tried to get it on video, but it is difficult to see. Hopefully they will move their babies someplace less conspicious.
